Space for creation

In the year 2021 we started, hand in hand with Civivox, an experimental project of filmmaking and training, aimed at people with or without previous knowledge of filmmaking. The idea in Filmmaking for social change, integrated in its own name has always been "filmmaking" and our will is to collaborate and facilitate the means for those people interested in telling stories from real people.

The 2024 edition has among its achievements to be a space for the development of creative projects created for the occasion. That is why more than 50% of the contents that are part of the program have been created specifically for the festival.

The projects that have never been performed or exhibited in front of an audience are as follows "Eros in exile".the short film "Arintze" or the tribute to Leonard Cohen's songs performed by Luis Mariano at "Avalanche".

In addition, the festival has its own proposals in which a space for dialogue between artists or between artists and the public is created. These are "I'm going to make you love me, no matter what." with a meeting between artists in the Amescoas Valley, the round table dedicated to making cultural work more visible, entitled "Love of art"the posthumous tribute to Daniel Ulecia or the interdisciplinary collaborative work between Germán Casablanca, Bobbi Relac and Carmen Larraz.

In addition, the festival presents an exhibition program of 3 visible art installations in the gardens and on the façade of the Civican Building created by the following artists Anna S. Holmes, Fermín Urdánoz and Arte Nuevo.

The film school, which has participated in several years of the festival, is managed by the Fábrica de Arte Nuevo.

Previously, in 2023 we have worked on the project "Yaponi: The Nest of the Tongue"by anthropologist and filmmaker Beatriz Bermúdez. The short film was premiered on Tuesday, June 13 on the first day of the V edition of the festival.

The "Filmmaking for Social Change" festival seeks to consolidate itself as a creative space of reference, where new talents can find their voice and project it to the world. Through the creation of synergies between artists from different disciplines, the festival not only encourages collaboration, but also emphasizes the creative process as an engine of social change, prioritizing art and innovation over mere exhibition. Thus, it becomes a platform that encourages new creators in the geographic framework where it is developed, promoting a space for experimentation and growth that will increase the artistic fabric while fostering processes of change in the public.
